I read a while back that a doctor in Belize gets paid around 36K per year, so staffing should not be a problem plus a while ago a group of Belizean doctors trained in Cuba were complaining about not having jobs or getting certified. Getting doctors should not be a problem and maybe we should consider paying them more.

i concur that the government could use that money to build hospitals all over the country, that is an excellent idea, and to voice my opinion on this matter, i do not have all the facts, but from what i gather the purchase may be a waste of taxpayers money.

But, let me put in my two cents, the government should take some of that money and try to train people to actually run/work these hospitals, i.e. nurses, doctors etc...

The reason i am saying this is that my grandmother fell sick last year, she was taking to the Southern Regional Hospital, and my God if it wasn't for family and friends she would have died in a month, as a matter of fact about three people that i know of for a fact, have died of negligence while she was there, older people that didn't have that family support like my grandma, my family members that visited and stayed with my grandma said that their is a complete break down of communications in the hospital, the Cubans can't understand the Belizeans, and they said there were constant arguing among employees. I remember a few years ago a kid got stabbed, they sent him to the Southern Regional, they sewed up the kid without doing in tests etc. the kid died the next morning; he was poisoned by the feces that came out of his intestines and leaked into his body - pretty sad man.

I mean, come on, build hospitals all over the country but who the hell are we going to put in them to run them properly, seriously? We should spend money on more and more education, but this is a whole nother ball of wax.

Like my dad said, buy the equipment from Universal for about 1 or 2 mil. do an addition to KHMH for another mil or so, and voila the government has accomplished the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

The guarantee & note are tied up in the courts, with the Solicitor General saying that no monies will be paid till the case has been decided. The resolution still needs to be passed.
