my thing is that the youths of belize is not really all that bad people but surcomstances mad them do bad things. buju banton say it best "surcomstances made me what i am cause i am not a violence man". belize is a nice and peaceful country with a lot of gready people that want everything for themself. business people out there give the youths a job work them for $150 and save urself. i dont make sence that u egnore the problem or try to save money,remember the poor people problem will only be solve with the rich people involvement wheather volenterily or by force.remember the day will come when the have nots will rise up and go to the have to get what they need. prevention is way better than cure. u do the maths do the right thing and save urself and ur money hire a youth.

I believe if you boil away all the other crap, it will boil down to education. I have seen and talked to so many young men that are the way they are because they are misunderstood, and the reason they are misunderstood is because they are unable to express themselves; thus you have a situation where this young man feels like society turns its back on him when he was trying, so he turned to an animals basic instinct to try and get its point across - violence.
Don't get me wrong, some people are just born losers, but that is an extreme minority.
I believe if someone would take the time; if they have not already, i dont read the newspaper much these days; and try and just ask this question, "what is the problem; how can we, the society, help."
I believe that there is so much pressure among young people to live and keep up with the Jones, that they will do anything to get that; and in Belize we may not realize but there is definitely a social divide in the sense of the have nots and the haves as in the sense that these young men see their neighbor or friend driving around the nice ride, spending the money, wearing the cool cloths and they get envious; its a normal human behavior; but in a society that values things over human life; in which we have embraced this over the past few years (will get to that later); it is so easy to go rob or murder someone for it.
I have simply watched in the past decade or so that our society has tried to turn a blind eye to the violence in this country; not because we wanted but because we always justified the violence - "Oh he deserved it, he was a this or that, he did this or that etc." We still do this, we say these young men who get killed are useless humans who deserved to disappear anyways.
Our Justice System - if there is such a thing in Belize - is a fucking joke; a complete and utter joke; simply put; look at all the criminals who are walking around because of technicalities and other stupid crap; what kind of message do you think this sends to people; it sends the message that we can get away with almost anything; and that mentality breaths the impulse or lack thereof to act without weighing the consequencies to much.
I can go on and on folks, as said this is a complex situation; and it WILL take society to fix society; turn a blind eye, trust me it will happen to you sooner or later.
Criminals taking over the country; and the cops are almost useless, trust me i can go pay of a cop right now in almost any part of Belize, why? they are poorly paid and they have bills and family to tend to too.
