POLICE BRUTALITY

What really is wrong with our policemen in this country. Are they so ignarat that when they come to hold a litte power it goes straight to their heads. Cases of Police brutality have grown in numbers over the past years. Yet the public seems to turn a blind eye towards these injustices.

Do you believe that they need to raise the entry level qualifications in order to become policeman. As these policemen are proving that knowledge and even Common Sense to carry out their jobs in a decent manner is lacking. Are their brains the size of a pea that do not comprehend the very laws they uphold. How can a community work along with these officers when they are doing a sloppy job. Most will agree that most policemen lack professionalism towards their jobs. Hell, most of them lack basic manners, so therefore your level of expectations of their jobs would be very low. Many perform thier jobs half-hearted.

Maybe their attidudes come from low self esteem, which makes them feel that they have to bully the citizens of this country to gain a little respect. I personally believe that these officers need to undergo intensive training to improve their job skills namely mannerisms, literacy rate, comprehension skills, and even common sense would be an asset in that course.

So in ending this article, May the Commissioner of Police realize his department Needs HELP. Don't get me wrong not all of them are like that , but majority proves the theory that they are lacking. So my fellow Belizeans May we see some improvement in our Police Officers. Like the fellow koncasian said Stop Di look fi Max horse and staat solve some real crimes.

You again !!!

Here I was thinking I had taught you a lesson. First its with the "porn not being illegal in some states" now with this revolution bashing.
A revolution does not neccessarily have to be violent,
its is "the overthrow of a government by those who are governed" or
"a drastic and far-reaching change in ways of thinking and behaving"
So you see son, instead of being afraid of the revolution, join it, speak up, and yes if you have to BURN something.

AND I SAY AGAIN, QUIT BLURTING OUT CRAP, NEXT TIME - (AGAIN) DO YOUR RESEARCH OR YOU WILL LOOK LIKE AN ASS (AGAIN)

"this is not revenge but punishment"

revolution my ass

yeah thats right revolution my ass...obviously you dont have one fuck of a clue on what a revolution brings about to a country...yeah the word surely sounds beautiful but do you know how much people die on a revolution?? innocent people...and in the end the government still wins ...and even if a miracle is achieved where the revolution wins like lets say cuba the innocent people even suffer more ....why do you think cubans risk their lives to make it to miami ?? is it cause they are thrill seekers?? and yeah ask fidel castro if he himself even beleives the shit he dictates you will never see him wearing the same motel drapes he gives his people to wear....like i said the word revolution sounds beautiful but you dont know shit what you talking about ...a better option is selective elimination A SNIPER ...A SPOTTER... POSITION TEN OCLOCK BY THE GVMNT BUILDING TAKE OUT THE KEY PERSONS INCHARGED OF THIS FINANCIAL CRISIS....

rougue cops in minority

I read the few comments on the police. I agree that there a members of the department who break the same laws the swore to uphold. There are those who lack the proper attitude and behaviour to be police officers. I however, who like to say that those persons fall within the minority. It is agreed that the department must aim for 100% excellence. Please allow me to say that there are many police officers who go above and beyound the call of duty every single day. They leave the safety of their own homes and families to be out protecting ours. There are many of us who hasten to highlight the negatives especially in the media but who often ommit the positives. That is however, ok as to serve was what they signed up for. And if the negatives are not brought out it does not create for improvement.
I would however like to call on all believe that they have been wrong my members of the department, to not only give their stories to media but make formal reports. As we know everyone INCLUDING POLICE OFFICERS are innocent until proven guilty. Only when formal complaints are made can these rogue elements be dealt with. Just reporting to the media or remaining silenet leaves open the a window for acts to be done to other members of our community. Let realy do our share in helping to rid the department of rogue officersm, there by improving the quality of service to the community by the police. Let us police the police so that the could properly police the community.

they must

well, let them do what it takes to get those so-called police better trained to deal with the people. they want respect, they must earn it, not demand it.

I have the solution to this police problem

make the police training and exams at least retard proof cause obviously a 5 grader could pass it. Alot of htese incidences are caused by the lack of good judgement of the officers, and face it if you do not have the necesarry processing power their CPU cannot make the right choice or do the job.

more on police

We are not the only one noticing the police behavior.

Read the Tuesday issue of the amandala. dated Wednesday, nov 10, 2004. No 1909. page 5. letter to the editor, entitled "Open letter to ComPol Zetina" signed by Lincoln Blake Jr.

Basically, he is saying the police need help in crowd control, where he made reference to the fire at the downtown guest house on Eve St. in Bz City.

He said that, "Upon my arrival, I saw one of the affected residents of the area agitated and confronting one of the Police Officers. The young constable fisted the resident on the face and this just made the resident more agitated, since he was trying to get to his house to save some of his personal items in case the fire spread to his residence." He continued, "Witnessing this, other bystanders and residents tried to calm down the situation and when the resident asked to other police officers present what was the young policeman's name, they pretended not to know him." and it goes on.

Thats true the police do lack crowd control management skills, also there it shows that the police are protecting their own.

He added, "One of the reasons for the low public participation in crime solving could be due not only to fear of the criminals, but also for the lack of trust in the Police Force."

Mr. Burke, we applaud your efforts, we do agreee with you, let us know if you get any response from the ComPol.

Police

I agree with both you guys, the police department do need to upgrade the level of service and human skills. Whats the entry requirement to join the Police? I think its high school, plus some CXCs. Coming out of high school you're still a kid. What does high school prepares a person for, surely not much now a day. maybe 20 years ago high diploma was the requirements for almost everything. times has change, the world has change. One of the problem is, look at the type of people applying to be policer officers, they are most people who just need to get a easy job or people who cannot find a good paying job with a HS diploma. (they are also officers with higher ed. when they join the force)

The other question is what type of training are they given at the police training school and for how long? If i understand correctly, if for a few months, i think 8, wow eight months and you can be a police officer. What can you learn in 8 months?

Those of you who did child physcology at school will know that the first 5 yrs of a child live development its the mold of how that child will grow and be the person who he/she will become. Its during that critual time its went we need to train them to have propler manners, show respects, morals, treat people, etc.

In 8 months, you cannot change a person attitude or way of live the way he was grown up. You can try! but its up to the individual to want to change.

Another thing? what level of Education the Com Pol has? he personally said that he joined the force about 25 - 30 years ago. and is still in the force. he is about 55-56 yrs now. Back then he must have had a High School diploma. and probably he still does, without any other formal education. We have to put blame on the top management for how the police behave. Maybe the compol does not know any better so the other officers follow his lead.

What the police needs to do is do a background check on all their applicants see where they live, how they grew up, their behavior at school, behavior at school plays an important part, becuase the same way they behaved at school, will be the attitude they will bring with them on the streets. then they can go through and select the best from the list.

Right now it seems that the Police Dept is taking all applicants becuase the PUP in its manifesto promised 500 more police officers and they want to achive that goal. But how are they going to pay them if now money no deh?

What would an early elections do? nothing. Even if we change gov't, the UDP are not better. All it boils down too is coruption and greed. For things to change, we need uncorrupted people, people that are not greedy, people that wants to make things better, people who will put the benefits of the country first. How many people out there fits this description? few. How many people out there will actually want to be in that position? even fewer. The main reason why these few people will not put themselves in that position is because they will be labeled as a politians. that will spoil they repuatation, becuase a politians is nothing good.

last words, the PD needs to do a review of itself and make recommendations to improve the service they provide and the image it has. And they need to prioritize the importance. it seems that getting criminals off the streets is less important than finding Max's lost horse.

Revolution anyone?

I think you hit the nail on the head artemis, they probably need to raise the bar on the quality of individuals they recruit into the police force. But in doing so, they may need to raise the salaries, And they have no money to raise salaries. They have no money because our politicians are corrupted and use our money to enrich themselves. We the people need to hold our government accountable for every cent that they cannot provide a reasonable and logical excuse on how it was spent. We need to remind them on what the word "Minister" means because they obviously misinterpreted it's meaning to be "King" which it is not.

I guess that what i'm saying is that all these problems come right back to those we have chosen to be our leaders. Do i hear anyone shouting "Early Election" or "Bloody Revolution"?

"It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man!"
