Open your mind a little bit, see the real issue...

“We lead tonight with the death of a nineteen year old following a shootout in a contraband bust early Thursday morning in the San Victor Village. The Customs Department was out in force today to do damage control at a press conference. The story is that a contingent of law enforcement officers—both B.D.F. soldiers, Anti-Drug Unit and Custom Officers—were on river patrol in Douglas Village where they confiscated four boats containing contraband goods.”
What is really the news here? Ask yourself this question. What is the issue? Do you see how Channel 5 started off this article? Hmm... the media, the media...
Hey, Channel 7 did it too:

“Last night we told you about the male shot in Douglas Village in the Orange Walk District – after a small riot ensued when a law enforcement team tried to seize some contraband.”
I am not one to sympathize with the police - nor the BDF, nor the customs officers for that matter. Many a times, I have found them to be uneducated and lacking in interpersonal skills – in other words, they think they can tell you anything that comes to their mouths and rough you up a little if they see it fit (or a lot, if you give them any lip). Quite frankly, they tend to abuse their authority a little too much. In addition to that, the have this air about them, as if you are guilty of something but they can’t really wrap their minds around it yet.
Ok, so don’t get me wrong, they are not all like that. Let me just clear that up.
As for the ones that are like that, I am not trying to find excuses to justify their behavior but we really must open our minds a little bit. These are the people who put their lives on the line for us. I mean, they are the ones that come face to face with the killers and drug dealers everyday. When you live this life, you tend to harden up a little, your perspective change, you see things differently. In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, Attticus Finch tells Scout that she couldn’t understand people “until you step into their skin and walk around in it”.
Am I the only one here? Look at the people from up north, attacking the authorities over the contraband. I am no saint but come on; you got caught DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL! And I am really sorry that the little guy got shot, worst, in the face, but this begs the question; what was he doing there in the first place?
Let not this unfortunate incident cover the real issue. Do you see the real issue? Really, do you? Open yu mind.
I am all for the people. I am all for fighting for my rights and for my brothers’ rights too. I don’t like when someone gets abused nor mistreated. Let me ask this question: who were the mistreated ones here? We are evolving into a society where the great “Babylon” is always bad, and anyone that fights them is the hero. All societies have to enforce authority because it is a necessary part of society. That what those people did with the customs officers in Douglas, that’s bullshit!
It only works like that if you have a just cause, you hear me!
