Apparently what was found in Cayo was 4 pounds of nitroglycerin which is just a part of dynamite. This was found with 40 feet of primer cord and the detonating cap. The person in whose possesion this was found has not made any comment or explanation as to where he got it or what he planned to do with it.

It's never really about the amount nor power it's all about placement. And how the explosive is used I can take out more with a shaped charge of say 1/4 pound of explosive than you can with say 100 pounds of the same explosive in any given situation though there are exception but they are enviromental and would have to do with placement.

1) Go to prozer(not jeffery) and buy 1 sack of Ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3)Used in the manufacturing of plant fertilizer. Slowly cook in a frying pan (electric stove) until crystaline and white. Shave off all white powder and repeat until no more white comes off. While the powder is still hot mix in methybenzene. This is a form of C4 and yes, this shit will remove a block! Please note that i intentionally left out 3-4 crucial steps as we dont want kids trying to make c4 home.

Take you example lets say someone set it off between 2 houses the house would take damage but most of the blast would go up and out between the house path of lease resistance. Take bombs from planes there are basicaly 2 kinds air burst and penatrateing. The air burst go off abouve the ground wich scatters sharpnel and shockwaves out and are good for soft targets the other kind hit the ground burrow in then explode on a timeed delay usaly in the micro second range but at the speed the bomb is falling it's enough for it to get deep enough to form a large crator.

There are several different types of liquid explosives that are commonly used in constrution the benifet is it's much easier to just pour the stuff into holes than stuff in solide explosives and liquids as a rule are stronger. The reason I question their use of nitro is that it's so unstable it's lucky he didn't set the stuff off just handleing it. That shit is way to touchy for use. However it is cheap compard to other explosives mabye that's why they are useing it.

If the dynamite was just used to say set off an excelerent that could potential take out much more than a city block. And excelerents are readily avaialbe they have to be any place you have farming you will have em. Hell chicken shit can be used as an excelerent. It's high in nitrogen.

Gun laws just don't work all they do is keep law abideing people from being armed. A crimenal is just that a criminal and no matter what laws you pass they really don't care they want a gun they will get a gun. What's needed is strict laws on the commison of a crime with a gun and enforce them.

One stick can't levlel a block net even close. Dyanamite well any expolsive will follow the path of lease restants. A good example is a bullet from a gun if you take hte bullet apart and light the powder all you will get is a little flash what makes it work in a gun is the explosiion is traped in the barrel and the only outlet is down the barrel which is where the froce comes from. As to getting strict that's just silly anyone can go to the local grocery store and buy eveything they need to make nitro and even more powerful explosives for that matter. Explosives are tricky things and you should mess with them if you don't know what your doing. And yes the dude should be locked up for being stupid if nothing else. Nitro is a bad explosive to use and if that's what they are using at the damn they are asking for trouble. Originaly all dynamite was was compressed sawdust soaked with nitro covered with waxpaper. But that was a long time ago hardly anyone uses nitro anymore it's just to unstable.
