Look like the Old Capital is turning into our own little

Look like the Old Capital is turning into our own little Johannesburg when it comes to the crimes being commited now.

Riddle me this - what is GOB doing about this situation? I know a few people personally that have been the victim of a crime over the past few weeks; fortunately none was seriously hurt.

HEADLINE FROM AMANDALA

The increasing brazenness of criminals operating in the old capital is beginning to make citizens uneasy. Between last Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20, there were no less than five separate incidents where the victims were accosted at gunpoint and robbed, and this includes a home invasion. One victim even had to go to an ATM to get funds to give the gunman so he would not harm her mother.

As documented elsewhere in this issue, around 3:00 p.m. last Thursday, Ms. Belkis Caceres, 26, was attacked by a gunman as she exited her car upon arriving at work at the Bakadeer Inn on Cleghorn Street. The gunman stole her money and her car and later had a shootout with police.

Then, almost six hours later, at 5:45, Dr. Silvia Parrales, 35, a radiologist at the Belize Medical Associates, and her mother became the victim of a conscienceless gunman. After they exited Brodies Supermarket on the Northern Highway and headed for their car, the gunman put a gun to the head of Dr. Parrales’ mother and demanded money. While the gunman held her mother hostage, she had to go to a nearby ATM to get more cash. That story is also covered in this issue.

Then the following day, Friday, at about 5:30 p.m., Armick Escobar, 22, and Dario Cruickshank, 23, with two other friends, were in front of Meg’s Auto-Care/Body Shop on South Creek when the group was attacked by two gunmen on bicycles, who ordered them to “empty their pockets.”

Police describe one of the men as being of East Indian descent and wearing a blue T-shirt and blue ¾ jeans pants, and the other as dreadlocked, with a black rag covering his face, wearing a warm cap, a black T-shirt and black ¾ jeans pants.

Both robbers, armed with 9mm pistols, demanded that the young men turn out their pockets.

Escobar said he tried to run, but tripped and fell, and the first robber struck him in the back of his head with the firearm and searched his pockets, stealing $6,500 in cash, an Apple I-Phone, a black Kyocera slider Smart phone, and two gold chains, one of the Cuban link variety and the other rope-linked.

The second robber then threatened Cruickshank with his pistol and demanded his cell phone. Cruickshank handed over an LG cell phone and the robbers then left the area, fleeing through a nearby alley. Police seek two suspects.

An hour and a half later, at about 7:00, Karen Froyce, 47, a secretary of Levi Slusher Street in Port Loyola, was walking on Freedom Street on Friday night, June 20, around 7:00 when she was approached from behind by a dark-skinned man who put an object between her shoulder blades and demanded her bag.

Froyce tried to fight, but was eventually forced to hand over her bag, containing a Smart cell phone, a Nokia phone, a voters’ ID and Social Security card being held for one Sherika Pollard, as well as $440 in cash. The assailant then ran away up Freedom Street.

About 45 minutes later, in Willows Bank, bus driver Mahlon McFadzen, 28, and his wife were exiting their house around 7:45 p.m., headed for their Honda Civic parked in their yard when three men, two of them armed, approached.

The men forced them back inside their house and robbed them of $300. Not satisfied, one of the thieves struck McFadzen on the right side of the head with a firearm, tied up the couple and stole a gold chain, 3 LG cell phones, a Motorola Cell phone, a Dell CPU, a camera, a pair of wedding rings and the couple’s Civic, later recovered by police on Lizarraga Street in Belize City.

Investigations continue in all the incidents except for the case of Ms. Caceres, whose attacker has been arrested.

Amag, you always scream about what Barrow will do for you!!! How do you feel about this windfall tax on oil idea? Also, what do you think about this PUC decision? Clearly they went against the advice of the mediator and told BEL "you get NADA".

The site is dead because

the humour is gone!!
This says it all: "Marriage is very much like going to the restaurant with friends. You order what you want and when you see what the other person has, you wish you had ordered that!"

This site is as dead

as ArmaG's cock.

(At least that's what his wife tells me).

"Drink Up, Smoke Up, Juk Up...nothing else really matters"

the definitive statement

I think this is the truest statement made on the subject on marital success..

"Fellows, when you wake up in the morning you should look yourself in the mirror and say..."Fuck You!" fuck your hopes, fuck your dreams, fuck your plans....fuck everything you thought this life was going to bring you! Now let's go out there and make this bitch happy!"
