Hire for sex in Corozal Freezone
It is a pity that the once shy girls from our villages in the north, with the poop that the PUP has got us into, continue to travel daily to the freezone to their $100.00 jobs. A lot of underaged girls are abused by the business pigs in the zone. There have been incidents reported at the Corozal hospital where females have checked in due to reaction from date rape pills. Sometimes, these girls are worked till late and left on the streets of Corozal to hitch rides back home. And then there are these old men who pick them up to abuse them. It is a shame that the ComPol would stoop low with the rest of Criminal bunch to tolerate prostitution and other illegal activities in the zone. The bucket di come up and guess what the bottom soon guen.
oh pleezzzz
As though it's just the freezone. Belize is hopping with prostitution and it's not just Corozal. How about Ambergris Caye? Give me a break. Until Belize (males and females) learn to respect -- not sell -- women, that's the way it is. I've often been surprised at how it's tolerated. Some rich American or European shows up and some people are willing to sell their child for a dollar - sad, lah.
It strange that nothing weh good ................
Seem to come out a dah free zone. The free zone is designed to make government cronies to make money through legal or illegal activities it doesn't matter. Prostitution, gambling and money laundering.
Who seek knowledge deh wisdom increase.
Is Belize a banana republic???
There was a time we looked at our Central American neighbors and we knew our economic and social situations were better than theirs. Today, Belize is among the worse of the worse.... is this what independence should have been about? Our children being sold into sex slavery????
Child prostitution
In the news media we're always hearing rumours of child prostitution in Belize, but today a new study claims that sexual exploitation of children is not a myth.
Dianne Haylock, Project Coordinator
“Children and adolescents under the age of eighteen from seventeen downwards are being paid to have sexual relations with adults. The majority, the overwhelming majority of cases were men but in a couple of the cases they were women.”
Jacqueline Godwin, Reporting
The study on the commercial sexual exploitation of children, C.S.E.C., was conducted to further strengthen the child protection measures that in some cases have failed to keep Belize’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens safe. The report not only confirms that children are given money for sexual favours but it identifies the root causes. Although the study does not measure an overall extent of the problem, the evidence presented is disturbing. Like the case of a four year old child, who was prostituted and contracted a sexually transmitted disease.
Dianne Haylock
“How a four year old be commercially exploited sexually? Parent involvement. The child is wooed by an older man with sweets, food and all of those things and the mother eventually finds out and she continues, she allows it to continue to happen and she benefits financially from this man. This child actually ran away from home and the way the case came to the attention of the service providers is not because that was happening but the child ended up with an S.T.I.”
The little girl was just one of thirty victims interviewed. The report reveals that some parents pimp their sons and daughters to get the money they need to meet expenses. The children are either forced to have sexual intercourse, or pose for pornographic photos.
Dianne Haylock
“They see it not as a crime but their means of surviving, helping their family to survive to survive, but at the end of the day it does not make it right. It is a crime being committed against your child. And so there is a major challenge then in how do you deal with these parents who are actually complicit in the commercial sexual exploitation of their children.”
The International Labour Organization, I.L.O. defines C.S.E.C. as a worst form of child labour.
Sandra Hall, Chairperson, N.C.F.C.
“We cannot allow our children to be abused and abused and abused. And we have to rally our people to stand up for something and if we cannot stand up for our children I do not know what else we are going stand up for.”
The study was a joint effort by Child Labour Subcommittee of the National Committee for Families and Children, the I.L.O. and the international Program elimination of Child Labour. The one hundred and fifty-eight page publication highlights the challenges that have prevented the eradication of the problem.
Project coordinator Dianne Haylock says the research reveals that the laws have not really addressed the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Dianne Haylock
“There is some talk in the law about child prostitute, but even calling a child a prostitute is wrong. If one looks at the international definition of what is a prostitute right, so even the terminology that is used in the laws of the country are antiquated. So there is a need to really look at what is going on in the various institutions that has something to deal with this issue or should be dealing with this issue.”
Following today’s presentation on the findings of the study, a strategic planning session was held to determine what concrete actions can be taken to respond to the problem.
Sandra Hall
“I hope that we will be able to get the commitment of all the key players. The political directorate because we must have the political will, the teachers, the churches, our NGO community, our communities where our children live and grow and most of all our parents, our families.”
Over one hundred and fifty people were interviewed for the study.
The I.L.O. and I.P.E.C. have conducted similar studies in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
Free zone
Free-zone is just a big rip off!!! All this shit about how the Free-zone is a wonderful thing for all belizeans is just crap...

adding
Hey Big Belly,
You forgot to state this as well, "Anyone with information that can assist the police in solving crimes is asked to call the 9-2-2 Crimestoppers hotline."
"Keeping it Yellow!"
that sucks
That's not right at all. This is the result of poverty and again it all goes right back to the way our government is managing our country.
You know, i don't think there's any justice in Belize. It's getting closer and closer to a point where we may have to take actions against wrong doers ourselves.
When was the last time our police solved a sophisticated crime that resulted in a conviction. Probably never! They are still relying on tips which won't come because the community don't trust them. Crimes such as rape require DNA and other phorensic equipment to build a case. I can imagine how the police handle a rape case ....
Police to rape Victim: - What happened?
Rape Victim: - I was raped?
Police to rape victim: - Who did it?
Rape Victim: - Mr. xxxxx
Police to rape Victim: - Ok we need you to go get checked by a doctor to verify that you were raped and in the meantime we'll question Mr. xxxxx
--------------------------------------
Police to Rapist: - Did you rape miss xxxx?
Rapists: - I want to see my attorney
Police to Rapist: - Ok
--------------------------------------
That's how i figure it happens, but i could be wrong.
So at what point are DNA samples taken?
Where are these DNA samples processed?
Do we have that technology in Belize?
If not, why not? (That was rhetorical...just ask Ralph)
If a private company were to invest in DNA processing equipment, would the police pay for the services?
Do the police take fingerprints?
Do the police even take mug shots? --- because i've seen so many reports of escaped prisoners but seems none of the media houses providing the reports were provided mug shots. What gives?
As an end note ... i've sat as a juror on 3 different court cases and for each one, the evidence provided by the police was practically nil. Additionally, you should have heard the police report, it was atrocious and childlike. The police seem to be relying too much on tips and community participation to solve crimes, but that's not going to happen in the near future. They need to adapt and find new ways to solve crimes. And as a parting shot to the police, i'd like to define a word for them. The word is:
Insanity - Insanity means doing the same thing, the same way, over and over again, and expecting a different result.
"It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man!"
cheap
i do know that employers in the FreeZone pay their employees cheap for long hours. i have seen many of them at the border last at night trying to catch a ride home. Its sad, but these people are being taken advantages of. the labour Dept should investigate. But why are the employers paying cheaply? simple, Ralph and musa (again) started to raise fees. Yes, fees not taxes because it is a freezone. You can't call it tax.

da true boss man. Just
da true boss man. Just because our currency is stronger than all those central american countries doesnt mean we gat it good. If we have 350,000 people and 200,000 of these people living on well more than one US dollar a day that dont mean shit about living in a good country. Lets say Guate has 20million people with only 9 million living on more than one US dollar a day, they would have a higher poverty rate but overall who is more developed. Their politicians steal but they also build while we still have it good but still haffu go da Merida for medical attention. I think that we are very very underdeveloped regarding the strength of our currency and the size of our population.
