God and Sex

It seems to me like the only thing our young people are really interested in these days is sex. Nobody’s interested in God or what God thinks anymore. We seem to have forgotten or maybe we were never taught that it was God who created sex. Many of our parents raised us to look at sex as if it were something bad. The old folks from days not too long ago and even some of our parents today see sex as a taboo subject. They gave us a bad introduction to sex and now our youths are facing the serious consequences of their error.

I remember the first time I learned about sex. I was about eight years old. Actually, I had already known about the sexual act itself since I was four but I never knew that good people did it too. It was my cousin who informed me that my parents also participated in this type of activity and in fact, it was the sexual act which they loved so much that brought me into this world. At first I didn’t believe him. I did not want to believe him because already at that very young age I was made to believe that sex was something nasty that only bad people do. Now that I am older and better informed on the subject and having produced children of my own I now realize that sex is something good. We ought to thank God for sex but because of the stigma that sex has always received in the past from our parents as well as from our religious teachers, sex has turned into something scandalous and idolatrous.

The pressures placed on young people to have sex and to abstain from sex is so powerful that young people today are in danger of being torn apart. Having never been properly taught about the joy of sex, sexual immorality has taken its place and has become rampant in our culture and in our community. HIV/Aids is killing out many of our young people and instead of changing our ways, many of our young people continue to put their lives at risk. It is just my opinion but perhaps we need to turn to our creator for guidance. After all it was he who set the ball in motion and He who came up with the love potion---Sex.

What do you think? How do you think God and religion fit into all this? I know this website may not be the place for spiritual enlightenment but I think we ought to give ourselves to something better. I can imagine seeing Fr. Right and Fr. Left browsing this site to look at porn but I can't imagine them ever coming here to try and teach us about sex or God. So why not go after it ourselves and see what we can learn?
