Crime and Blacks

...AND no PUN intended here but the ISSUE is really not BLACK & WHITE...As a matter of fact it is anything BUT!!!...It is in fact conceptually all the SHADES of the RAINBOW in between...It is NOT simple...it is NOT monochromatic...it cannot be reduced to mass generalizations...It needs careful analysis on a CASE by CASE basis.

i beleive that U have dealth with the issue quite superlatively ROADY...AND the ONLY injection i would make would be to enjoin U in saying that U can't rule out the fact that these STATS may be driven by some redNEXT...or neoNAZI...or skinHEAD!!!...The parties who play on PREJUDICE...and PREY on IGNORANCE.

i would also say that this raceBASED statistics is NOT unprecedented...While i was in the great grandBRITANNIA in 1993 pursing some academics...some DUDEs from HARVARD released a STUDY at the time which amounted to the fact that as U trace the accomplishments of BLACKs as against WHITEs in academia, the STATS showed that BLACKs were uummm, ahhh, ehhh INFERIOR...or umm, aahh less MENTALLY evolved!!!...This of course is hogWASH...But its a call to remind us that the racist among US r only waiting for an opportunity to sow division and discord!!!

I thought Armageddeon was reading materials from the shelf of a Red-Neck Hick or maybe even a Nazi propagandist or a fascist Doctor from Musolini's Italy where they maintained the existence of superior and inferior races. So armagedeon why don't you wrap your head around the different mass killings carried out in the last 100 years. Armenians by Turks; Jews, Gays, Gypsy's by Germans, Chinese by Japanesse, Tutsi's by Hutus, Ethiopians by Italians, Polish by Germans, More Poles by Russians, add all the other mass killings done by Stalin, Cambodia's "Killing Fields"...

All this doesn't even include the Triangular trade or the slaughter/labour-to-death of natives in the new world that built most of the wealth we see today, plus we are only going back 100 or so years.

This thing is way more complicated we are dealing with a system in america that is enforced based on color and wealth. How many blacks are being freed because of DNA in Texas? HOw many blacks are in u.s. jails doing time because crack-cocaine and regular powder cocain carry 2 different sentences? Don't get me wrong, you break the law you do the time, but the time should be the same irregardless of race etc... This is just a small view of the inequalities in capitalist systems. Our system is in belize no different Money Talks.

The music thing:
Who makes all the money of record sales? How come artist such as Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def etc... get little to no air play? Because sex, drugs & murder sells records, gears, sneakers etc... Who spends the money? Well young white kids mostly...

At the end of the day its way more complicated than just blaming it on race.

Look at the last 4 or 5 decades and tell me how much money seperates a middle class family from a poor family? How much harder is it now to move from poverty to being middle class?

However it's enough to realize that it's not just an issue of the specific culture of a village. C'mon lets not deny it we see it with eyes one open. Blame it not on an specific ethnic group; however, the Western culture of "CAPITALIZM" is the major base of the problem in which an individual becomes complacent in WANTING if not some but everything they see in the Tube. However when u talk about culture itself you have to take into account that young black youths are fed with one of the most influencial systems which are music and as i said the tube (t.v). If you take one day and watch and hear what "rap" and "hip-hop" are feeding, its towards the majority of black youths. They elaborate in the fact of "owning" "bling-bling". It places a certain curtain of standards that you need that in order to get "mo-bi&*%es" Im not against the music itself, however u have to take into account that its the water hole which provides mostly to the problem. I believe mi bally armaggedon d see it in a prospective of most "ENGLISH" speaking western communities and now if you talk about the mestizo and maya believe me that they are getting influenced through the decomposition of western impulsion and polity through their own culture.

under your logic a city without blacks means a city with low to no crime. Have you guys been to Guatemala city, San Pedro Sula, Mexico City etc... and if you take a look at cities that are predominantly white if not all white but with a high crime rate such as Hungry-- Budapest, Bulgaria-- Bucharest, Asian cities etc...

The one common thing is poverty, deprivation and an unfair distribution of wealth which all adds up to desperation...

I agree that all belizeans need a reality check, but comparing a rural area to a metro area is like comparing apples and oranges. I bet creole villages and mestizo villages have the same types of crimes, petty thieft and crimes derived from drunk and disorder behavior or crime of passion as oppose to the city where you have drug murders and gang murders or drug addicts stealing and robbing to support their habits.

So the comparison should be between rural people and city folks not blacks and mestizos or mayans etc...

there. that only 1/2 of the problem, material stuff. but there is one crucial component you left out. What do these Mayan people have down south that our southside blacks don't have? Values, Respect, Manners, etc.

But, let me ask you a question, how come most Mayan Indians down south are also as poor if not poorer, than Belize City's South side citizens and pretty much the rest of the country, yet you hardly hear of these sickening crimes in the Mayan Indians populace, why is that?

Does it has something to do with vanity and materialism? Is it that certain race in the country of Belize are more materialistic than others, and being that they can't afford those material things, they will do anything to get it - rob, kill people?

So, i beg to differ Road Fly, i think that being poor does not necessarily make a population turn to crime, because the Mayan Indians (most of them) still live simple lifestyles and want nothing to do with materialism, and that is our (creole, garifuna etc) problem, we want to live the American lifestyle and only a few can (i bet you are) and that is what our youths value now, material things, even more than life, because they are so willing to take a life without hesitation these days, and yes our politicians do have our justice system broken; a friend of mine just got off even though he plough down an off-duty cop, in a stolen pickup truck while he was intoxicated and didn't have a valid driver's license, so that sends a very negative message to me about our justice system, if they don't even care about their own...

I now sleep with a gun under my pillow, no shit, cause i don't know which group of 17 and 18 year olds might break into my house and rape and slit my wife's throat and probably shoot me; look what happened to that poor little girl in Placencia last month or so, what a shame, and that pregnant girl that got killed up north. (BTW: my firearm is licensed by the way folks).

These guys are the biggest criminals, because their crimes or their lack of enforcing our laws(which is also a crime) spawns so many other crimes, everything from murder, drugs, thieving etc...

Many a times these guys are the ones that tip the domino to start the effect.
