G-Michael has been at his most assinine this morning when he attempted to deflect the blame of the BABY MURDER TRAGEDY on the very victim itself, or more accurately the survivor of the tragedy...He was ostensibly saying that since the pregnant mother was a trouble-maker in the eyes of the police...which we really do not know...the Police had every right to do what they were doing...to this young unfortunate lady...and her unborn child...This spells out in my mind two very important things...It is long past the time for this fellow to go...because in a real sense he was never needed in the first place...This has brought into sharp releif the fact that all of those cleaners and secretaries and other support staff of the Police Dept are much more needed than G-Michael...and in fact he should have been the first to go and not them!!!...This episode also underlines the basic fault and default of the system...Does anyone know of an open and transparent system where a post for Police Press Officer was advertised and G-Michael applied for the job and got it on the basis of his own professional merit???...This did not happen...He was and continues to be a political appointee...and of course a political tool...I am sure that even as we speak about the tragedy visited on the bereaved mother and the Nunez family, and as our condolences go out to them...the political bosses of G-Michael will call him off...based on the outrage and disappointment directed at his interventions on the morning talk shows...and try to find a way of milking this thing for all it is worth politically...The public has been assured that the police "Internal Affairs Division" are already "Investigating" the matter...which is really themselves...(you go figure!!!)...after which they will turn the findings over to their political bosses...who will then do something such as...naming a Prime Ministerial Commission to look into the matter.

Should have been a last resort. I have not heard she had a gun, knife or was kung FU expert so what where the cops scared of? And then to compound the issue by not providing medical care is inhuman. This kind of shit will kill the tourist trade if it gets out. To much of this kind of thing is happening if it’s a some one suggested a lack of training then increase training. Though it’s been my experience that lower ranking police and soldiers get there guidance from above it he leadership doesn’t care then the troops don’t care. So I’d say we have a crises of leadership that must be address when will the citizenry have enough? How many people have to die or be incarcerated on bogus charges, or be harassed before action takes place? Belize needs a method of recall there needs to be some way for the people to purpose legislation like in California where they have ballot initiatives. It’s not like we are so large a country that a vote on any given issue couldn’t be taken on short notice.

i sympathise with any mother who looses their baby, especially right after birth but it's always easy to blame someonelse. the police can act so stupid sometimes as i have experienced right in bmp. they can really piss you off and it's true that sometimes you don't have to do shit for them to bother you. it's so hard for me to blame anyone as it is unlikely that we will ever know transpired. when I saw the gut wrenching story on the news last night. My heart goes out to Kaila and Rhenae Nunez and their family. How could an officer of the law be so moronic as to manhandle a visibly pregnant woman?? I mean even if the woman had committed some grevious act and was physically threatening the officers, the welfare of the innocent life inside of her should have been of primary concern. However, this was certainly not the case as she was merely pulled over out of suspicion and had not been convicted of any crime. The whole scenario sounds highly suspicious to me; why was that particular woman targeted and mistreated in such a grossly inhumane manner?? How can anyone sit back and deny a pregnant woman the right to medical attention? What were they waiting for her to give birth right there in the cell??! Honestly, particularly as a woman the whole situation just sickens my stomach. The psychological damage that this young woman has endured may indeed be irreparable while the death of her premature baby, in my opinion, was downright murder. I really hope that the family can reap justice as some consolation for this horrendous tragedy.

Just my opinion, I don't know all the facts except for what the media has published.

First of all, in belize anybody with a little bit of authority tend to over use it if you challenge or confront them. They lack training, They take everything personal, They have axe(S) to grind all the time, They are uptight about any and everything.

Have you ever tried to reason with people like this? If you even sound like if you are reasoning with them and challenging their authority you will get a slap/bax/kick/lash etc...
here is an example of what is going on in their heads at this time:

Example if the police can slap a member of the house of representatives, and tell him he "upstart", you think they'll hear lip from any average citizen. The guy that assaulted the Rep. was an inspector, remember we are suppose to lead by example.

Now you guys are still asking why, how, where, or when this could have happended; this recipe is ripe for disaster, imagine all the stories we didn't hear about, because they covered it up.
